Bristol City: The Cup Crux (October 2022 through February 2023)

From Bristol to Berlin
Sup, all the way through to February in this one, aren't you lucky.
October 2022
Growth Report:
League hasn't really offered up much of a challenge thus far, and I am weirdly hoping that changes - the lack of competition is boring! Well, I guess back to back titles would be nice.
Results:
10 for 10, that's how we look in the league right now, and also boast the best attack and defence in the league to boot. We may not be the most exciting side to watch, but we are simple and cut-throat. We hold a 6 point lead over Liverpool already, and we are likely to extend that yet.
Diego Costa leads the goals for the recovering Chelsea, the Spaniard with 8 goals.
There are four players on four assists at this point, as there is still no give on who will take it in the end.
Sommer leads the clean sheets, with 7 to his name at this point.
November 2022
Growth Report:
Given the way the league has gone, we are not really feeling the heat of a fairly busy month. We actually play Liverpool, which means that if things continue in this manner, we have a strong chance of a three point extension.
Results:
The month ended on a sour note after that cup elimination, still it'll be one less competition clogging up the calender and we can focus on on continuing this league domination that has seen us establish a massive 11 point lead over Liverpool.
Costa and Muller now share the top scoring spot, both with 10 for the season this far.
Sanchez and Barkley are the assist leaders, each with 5 for their teams so far.
Sommer leads the clean sheets with 9 playing behind our far more impressive defence.
December 2022
Growth Report:
6 more league games and the last of our group stage games fixtures in Champions League football is what separates us from January and a complete domination in the league.
Results:
So, 20 games down, 60 points earned with 49 goals scored and only 8 conceded, we are absolutely tearing the league apart at this point. We even have a 17 point lead to boot, we are so far ahead it's almost boring, but winning is fun so I can let them off.
Muller continues to lead the goals charts with 14 goals for United.
Sanchez is tied with Harry Kane on assists charts, both players managing 6 so far.
Sommer is the only keeper in double figures for clean sheets, his 13 leading the charts for Golden Gloves.
January 2023
Growth Report:
So we'll open with a hell of a transfer window, we had signings and departures. None of which were planned, all of which are amazing.
Outgoings
It all started with the departure of two flops as South American central defender Coetzee made the switch to Leeds for £2.8m, and Brown went on to Arsenal in a £5.5m seal.
Two youth players left as M. Fernandez will spend the remaining months at Leicester on loan and Pyzdrowski departed for PSG in a £100m switch.
Yes, Tristan our American youth starlet was sold for £100m to PSG, it hurts to talk about so I won't say too much about it.
Incomings
Things started with no intentions of big transfers, there was money in the bank and I wanted to make a couple of changes.
The first to come in was Watmore a man who wanted me in the past but has been plying his trade with Bayern of late, Kane's physical's were decline after his injury and I wanted a new striker. We traded Kane and £18m for Duncan's services.
And then 37 year old Cristiano Ronaldo wanted out of Madrid, and I wasn't about to reject the legend. He's old but still gold, we managed to seal a £4.2m deal for him, he's content with a rotation role and we are hoping that his quite mesmerising abilities will get us crucial goals at crucial times.
Then Pyzdrowski departed and I panicked.
I signed two replacements for him, as Felipe Anderson signed for Lazio in a £23m switch, he's a wonderful addition and someone who brings a similar set of skills to the role - though perhaps some more flair.
He was followed shortly by England's 21 year old sensation Luer of Everton, the kid has the potential to be the next special thing from England, and we paid top money for his name. a £35m price tag.
We had plenty of money left over, and I wanted another truly world class central defender to partner Heffernan. And so we raided Real Madrid again, this time stealing French international Varane in a £30m switch.
That ended our window spree, a total in excess £200m was spent in deals involving our club and we are hoping we don't regret any of them. Though I already miss Tristan. I regret that deal.
If the first half of this season is anything to go by however, we are not really going to need Tristan anyway.. I reckon I could play Logan in LAM and still score a hat trick. Amazing.
Results:
The end of the transfer window and fixtures left us holding all the cards after we strengthened, lost a star and strengthened some more. We may have lost the 100% record after 20 games, but just 2 draws and 22 wins is still fantastic, the 19 point gap that separates us from the rest the symbol of our success.
Muller's 15 goals leads the league.
Sanchez and Tosun share the lead of the assists now, both player on 7 for the season.
Sommer continues to lead the league for clean sheets with 15 for us.
February 2023
Growth Report:
4 league games and the round of 16 games in both FA Cup and Champions League competitions as we are looking to continue our path to a shock treble.
Results:
League domination was business as usual for our lads, and we remain solid in Europe. However, Chelsea eliminated us from the FA Cup not long after the Capital One Cup elimination, it's shocking and the 21 point lead we have in the league is little comfort for that.
Muller sits on 18 goals as the leading scorer still.
Sanchez is the sole leader for the assists charts now, his 8 just edging ahead of his competition.
Sommer is the top keeper still, with 17 clean sheets for us.
And so that's that for this one, I'll see you back at the end of the season to see how we took on the remaining league matches and to see if we did well in Europe!
Thanks for reading.
Author's Note
So we are into a part of the career where I am umming and ahhing about it. We will absolutely finish this season, because I want that back-to-back title win.
But the Cups are completely .. well bullshit to be honest, it's like the AI has been toned down for the league but completely ramped up for the cup games so as to stop me rampaging.
It could be that I decide against starting a new season and take you for one last story for FIFA 15. But that depends entirely on how I feel at the end of the season - one more season could still be a swansong.

Volume 2 Chapter 2 - UE Llegostera (November 2015 through January 2016) - Small Town, Big Dreams

Vol.2:Ch.1 - Irish Luck
Double post today, aren't you lucky!
November 2015
Growth Report:
Given our position, led by me as the best manager in Spanish football('s second division) Eibar wanted me to take up their managers role. Rejected, why would I leave my over achievers for their underachievers?
Basically we are hoping for mirror performances from the first half of the season for as long as possible, we know as well as many that we could implode at any time so it is important to get as many points registered as possible.
Results:
We took the month by storm and as a result have extended our league lead to an impressive 8 points as Levante lost twice to lose their unbeaten status - leaving us as the only remaining team without defeat.
Hoban on 14 goals remains the top scorer so far, however he is being caught up fast by those around him in the division.
No changes on the assists rankings as Hernan remains on 6, with one other.
Bounou keeps his top spot for Golden Gloves with 9 cleansheets.
December 2015
Growth Report:
Christmas lights leave us in bright moods, as we hope to go into the winter break with smiles all around at the club - of course with a two leg cup tie to play we are also expecting to face defeat, but that won't affect our league determination.
Results:
So our lead has been cut down a single point, as we remain unbeaten but with a draw too many it seems.
Willian Jose took advantage of Hoban's inability to find a goal to join the Irishman at the top of the scoring charts on 14.
Renella leapfrogged the trio of players with 6 assists, his 7 taking him to the top of the charts.
Bounou extended his tally to 10 cleansheets as he remains the top keeper.
January 2016
Let's kick things off with the transfers, and news that the board are willing to let me spend big to capitalise on our position at the top of the second division - provided we sell big first.
Transfer News
Outgoings
A pair of our star performers from the early stages of the campaign were the target of, subsequently successful, bids from around the nation and world.
Firstly, Hernan made a move to Mexican football as Guadalajara put in a £3m bid to put off their league rivals and get their man. Our defensive midfielder had been a surprise player in terms of his attacking flair, but as things were shaping up in my mind I needed to move some players on to change the shape of the team - and this bid proved too good to turn away.
The other player to leave the team was goalkeeper Aitor, he may have been impressive statistically but I was still put off by his awful diving skills. So when Hamburg, Juventus and Valencia got into a bidding war that saw them all racing to sign off on a £12.5m deal I could not have been happier, our Spaniard eventually deciding to stay in the country with Valencia.
Incomings
And the total re-investment of most of the cash raised from the sales. The board quoted as saying "this is money that the manager has raised himself with signings he made cleverly last season - thus it's money he deserves to spend wisely himself".
In doing so I needed to replace our departed 'keeper as quickly as possible, managing to sign another young Spanish starlet in Blanco for just £450k. This keeper has a bright future if he can hit a stride of growth quickly, for now he is definitely of a quality that this league requires.
Then came the signing of a new left back that I had wanted to do since the start of this campaign. Manchester City's young full back Angelino cost us just £825k and will come straight into the side, he was not our only dealing with City with.
We picked up left winger Pozo in a deal worth £750k as we looked to change shape up to 433 in the coming months.
We were far from done in England however, as another Spaniard caught my eye in Ayoze Perez of Newcastle, the striker ended up costing just £900k after we persuaded them to take Vargas going the other way. His wages were the first example of the hefty outlay we were willing to risk on our assault for top flight status - £37.5k a week.
We remained in England a little while longer, though this time we had foreign intentions in mind as we looked to boost our midfield a touch.
First, Arsenal's German prodigy Zelalem signed up. Costing a mere £300k he more than made up for that valuation with his wage demands of £25k, I have a feeling it was those demands that made Arsene so keen to shift him, we however are willing to take the chance to move forward.
Then Reed of Southampton came over for £800k and Towell, as we added an Englishman to our foreign troupe. It's nice to have one of my countrymen alongside me here, especially one with the talents of the little ginger. His wages are actually looking low at £12k.
Before returning to Spain we stopped off in Italy, this time moving for a defender as another Blanco made a move to our club. Carlos of Juventus is one of our nations top rated centre backs at under 21 level, so it's a surprise that we managed to bring him back to Spain for just £1.5m. Again his heavy wage of £25k set us back a bit, but it's still well worth it to see our small town club rise up.
Now finally back in Spain we had two more arrivals to tie up, this time replacing the departed Hernan with young defensive midfielder Unai Lopez from Athletic Bilbao, a deal worth £700k could yet prove to be a bargain, as he looks like a bright talent in midfield.
Finally, arriving from Barca B to complete the switch to our new 433 system was Adama at RW. Costing £1.4m the winger has bags of pace and potential to boot, and we hope it is something we can utilise - though it will be from the bench for the time being as our captain Perea will remain at RW.
So with that ending the window it's time to look at the results, I will take you through the line up at the end as some of the transfer didn't go through till deadline day and so we still had the 4231 in place until February 1st.
Growth Report:
We are really expecting - and hoping for - much of the same in this window, though a blip or two will be forgiven as we are well aware of the affects transfers can have.
Results:
So we remain top, but once again we saw a point shaved off of our lead as we loss a game for the first time this campaign. We need to reshuffle and regroup quickly if we are to avoid losing top spot.
Hoban returned to the top scorer spot after Willian Jose departed the league, though he is unlikely to add many more to his 15 goals as he no longer has a starting spot here.
Roger, Chuli and Renella are all on 7 assists as that returned to being a tight affair even after Hernan's departure.
5 keepers on 6 clean sheets now make up the top end of the Golden Glove rankings as he previous 4 leading tallies all found themselves sold on.
So now I will walk you through our new line up, before signing off on this post! I have adopted a false 9 433 as I felt this would best utilise Ayoze's mix of passing and finishing abilities.
Well once again thanks for reading, and I will see you at the end of the campaign. And if these posts didn't make up for yesterday's crap post, then I don't know what will!
